Hi Everyone!

If you’re new here Welcome!
Grab a cup of something delightful and let’s hangout!
If you’re family, HELLO!!! I miss you! Thanks for coming back!

This past summer we took on the hardest, most exhausting project of our lives.

In secret... except for the TV Cameras... just kidding it was shot almost entirely on iPhones by us! How ridiculous is it that they are literally making TV WITH OUR PHONES!!!!

Technology is soo cool!

Anyways, yes, secret project!

We Can Finally Start To Tell You About Our Family’S NEW EXPERIENCE— Life Under Renovation!

Truth be told, I still can't tell you much other than this here Discovery+ approved description!

Life Under Renovation Available to stream on discovery+
Wednesday, April 28

Life Under Renovation follows five families from across the country (PSST THAT’S US!) as they take on the ambitious task of capturing the ups and downs of the biggest renovation of their lives. Inspired by a major life event—from accommodating a newly blended family or unexpected triplets—the self-shot series tracks the progress of the families’ home renovation realities from beginning to end.

But I can show you the trailer!

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS TRAILER

What I love the most about the description above and trailer is that me being a transgender dad, who birthed four out of five of his kids wasn’t even in there as a surprise, shock and awe, when a few years ago people would have used it as the leading header. Truth be told, I’m not actually even in the trailer much at all.

My transness was not gratuitously on display. I'm just a dad, a husband, a guy… who happens to have a history of living as a woman.

Pretty awesome that HGTV and Discovery+ see me that way because I struggle to see myself that way sometimes.

HOW WE GOT ON AN HGTV SHOW

This whole journey started when a producer wrote Katherine on instagram. “Do you happen to have any renovations coming up in the next 6 months that you have to do? Your family is really awesome!”

We didn’t. We were living in Alberta, planning our move west, and finishing up the media tour for our documentary. I was flattered nonetheless.

Then COVID-19 hit, and we jumped. We got out of Alberta, giving up our lease before finding somewhere else to live even. We were so silly!

And so we did what any reasonable people do, we got on the old internet machine and bought the only house on Salt Spring Island, one of Canada’s Southern Gulf Islands, that fit in our price range. In a bidding war. Sight unseen.

In short. It was a disaster!

But our beautiful disaster! One I would do again and again!

Everything was a little more broken than we thought. A little more wonky than we thought. A little bit smaller than we thought, but also a little bit more magical than we thought.

So yes! All of a sudden we did have a renovation to get done, and QUICK!

11 months later here we are, getting ready to show you exactly how neurotic, and bad at construction, and communication I am, on a major television streaming service.

No biggie! All my flaws for the world to see. What could go wrong?!
