2022 Holiday gift guide for LGBT Allies

It’s the holiday season! That means gifts! Not everyone is great at thinking of gifts under pressure, :AHEM:: Me! ::cough, cough:: so I created this fun gift guide so we can all have some go to ideas.

Everything I’m linking to below was created by smart, wonderful humans who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. When you buy a candle, a book, or cute socks from one of these companies, you’re voting with your dollars in a real, tangible way.

(Also, wouldn’t it be sort of hilarious to gift your “love the sinner, hate the sin” aunt a candle made by two husbands in upstate New York!?)

Holiday Gift Guide For Allies (From LGBT-Owned Companies)

TomboyX makes incredibly comfy, supportive apparel for the Sporty Spice in your life - like these workout leggings or these biker shorts.

These rainbow socks would make great stocking stuffers and if you, like us, are a “matching Christmas pajama” family, this flannel set is cute enough for family photos.

From Goodreads: Gala, a young trans woman, works at a hostel in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. She is obsessed with the Get Happies, the quintessential 1960s Californian band, helmed by its resident genius, B—-.

Why did the band stop making music? Why did they never release their rumored album, Summer Fun? Summer Fun is an epic and magical work of trans literature that marks Thornton as one of our most exciting and original novelists.

Gift guide for LGBT allies candles

I know it’s cliche to gift people - especially women - candles. But my wife happens to love a good candle! And she loves bougie candles even more!

These candles are $58 a pop, but they burn for 60 hours and come in scents like dark rum, leather, tomato and - my personal favorite - cannabis.

True story: sometimes, when we need something to bulk up the kids’ stockings, we tuck in little snack packs. They’re cheap, they keep the kids from getting too hangry during stocking-opening time, and honestly? You can pretty much wrap anything and kids will get excited to tear it open.

They have flavors that are both kid and adult friendly - spicy chipotle cheddar, truffle, and sea salt.

One of my childhood best friends often received toothpaste and deodorant in her stocking at Christmas (!!) At the time, we rooooolled our eyes over it. But now? As a parent of five? I deeply get it.

If you’re open to stuffing stockings with sensible things, check out this green tea cucumber deodorant, this post-shave moisturizer, or these cute, guest bathroom-worthy olive oil soaps.

Ink meets paper stationery Sets + pens

If someone on your list writes thank-you notes and remembers birthdays and anniversaries, these pretty blank card and envelope sets would be a good gift.

Ink Meets Paper also curates a selection of incredible pens, which your doodler / writer might appreciate!

pink House alchemy simple syrups, bitters, and shrubs

These make for wonderful hostess gifts or just make your holidays easier. Their simple syrups come in flavors like Cardamom, Mexican Chile, and Hibiscus Rose and can be used in drinks, coffee or dessert! Their shrubs - not a bush, but “an acidulated syrup comprised of vinegar, botanicals, and sugar” - are also great. And a nice, non-alcoholic addition to the holiday to any holiday table.

Do you have a foodie in your life? Someone from the southern part of the U.S.? SOMEONE WHO LIKES CARBS? All of the above will love these biscuits - available in buttermilk and cheddar. Or maybe a cheeky “You Gotta Risk It For The Biscuit” t-shirt

Children’s books written by your favorite LGBT authors 😉

I would be remiss if I didn’t use this as an opportunity to remind you that I wrote this sweet little book about pronouns and Katherine wrote this buy-it-before-you-think-you-need-it book about the … realities of Santa Claus.

There are, of course, tons more amazing LGBTQ+-owned companies; these are just a few of my favourites who make things that are extremely gift-able this holiday season. If you have a go-to LGBT-owned brand that you love, tell us about it in the comments!
