AHHH WHAT DO I EVEN BUY!?!”
I never thought that I would be the kind of person that writes a Holiday Gift Guide.
Typically I’m the one freaking out a week before Christmas because I find gift giving harder than child birthing. And I’ve done that 4 times, a bunch of different ways, so I know. And yes, I do recognize that that makes me weird. Not the child birthing part. Lots of Transgender folks birth kids. The part where I would choose the birthing over the gift giving— that’s the weird part.
Who hates giving gifts that much? This guy. Even more confusing, I also don’t love getting gifts.
It’s all too much pressure. How are you supposed to give a gift that accurately reflects the way you feel about someone. What if it’s not enough? What if it’s overboard? What if? What If? What If?!
My head is neurotic. So much so that I get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. Taking a look at what’s out there, and what someone else is doing always acts like a brainstorming session. Me and the screen going back and forth.
“No, she doesn’t want a silk house coat…” I mumble, while scrolling through list after list .
“OHHHH YES!! But silk pyjamas! Now we’re talking.”
“A home-made craft kid! I never would have thought of that.” WIlde’s favourite (and most affordable) gift from last year FYI.
Yep. Gift guides are actually totally helpful. And since I love on a remote island on Canada’s west coast, I had to basically finish my shopping 3 weeks ago to ensure everything got here in time. Which it won’t. Because remember how I started this blog post? Yep. Not good at this part of life. But most stuff will get here, and sometimes in the year 2020, that’s all you can ask for.
