ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE YOU TO MX.WILDE

Mx.Wilde North, introduces themselves, and shares their, they/them pronouns.

“Hey Dad, do our friends on Instagram know about my gender?” Wilde asked one early morning a couple of weeks ago while snuggled on my couch.

“Hmmm, I’m not sure,” I said honestly, “I make sure to use they/them pronouns for you whenever I talk about you, but our friends on instagram who have been around for a long time might not know. And others might assume things about you based on what they have been taught it means to be a particular gender. I haven’t told the internet because you haven’t told me to.”

They were quiet. I could tell they were thinking.

“How do you feel? Do you want me to tell our instagram friends about your gender?”

They nodded. “I don’t want them to call me words that don’t feel good to me.”

I understood everything about that feeling, and the look in their eyes. And so even though it’s not my story, my desire to keep them safe from the prying eyes of the interwebs, is rightfully outweighed by my kid, and what they need to feel good and safe in the world- which in this case is to be seen for who they are.

So without further ado…

I introduce to you my favourite little #enby, Mx.Wilde. For those of you not familiar, Enby is the umbrella term covering all gender identities outside the gender binary. Individuals can and do identify with nonbinary as their specific identity.

Wilde uses they/them pronouns and we are all very comfy correcting others and ourselves when we misspeak, so don’t worry if you mess up at first, we’ll help you find your way.

Xx
