Christmas is a big deal here at the North household.
Katherine is the headmistress of magic. Handing out a new holiday activity each and every day with our giant purple advent calendar. Activities include such things as drinking candy cane hot chocolate, watching The Grinch, doing Christmas baking, our tree delivery and everyone’s very favourite, matching Christmas Jammies.

Except that less than an hour after these photos were taken I made Katherine cry in the car.
Because that’s marriage am I right? Anyone who says it’s not well, either they are lying, or they aren’t “all in” cause loving someone fully and loving yourself fully is super elaborate dance it turns out.
Sometimes, like on our family jammy night, we trip on our own feet and fuck the whole dance up. But that’s how we know we’re actually dancing. Or at least that’s how we know we are doing an interesting, exciting dance anyways.
So we pause, we reset, I apologize for being a giant jerk, and we come back together even more gracefully than before.
If it feels hard sometimes, that’s because it is. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re just paying attention.
